In the working process of the bearing, its contact angle is a crucial factor, usually between 15° and 40°. The existence of the contact angle enables single-row angular contact ball bearings to bear axial loads, but when bearing radial loads, the axial component it produces will affect its load-bearing capacity. Therefore, single-row angular contact ball bearings can only bear unidirectional axial loads.
The axial load characteristics of single-row angular contact ball bearings are reflected in their design, especially the influence of the contact angle. Bearings with larger contact angles can bear larger axial loads, but at the same time, the increase in contact angles will also reduce the ability of bearings to bear radial loads. This is because as the contact angle increases, the contact area between the rolling element and the inner and outer rings becomes more perpendicular to the axial direction, and the influence of radial loads will be weakened. Choosing the right contact angle is crucial to ensure the stability and performance of the bearing under actual working conditions.
The axial load capacity of single-row angular contact ball bearings is not unlimited. It can only bear axial loads in one direction. When it is necessary to bear axial loads from two directions, the application of single-row angular contact ball bearings is not suitable enough. This is because, due to its structural design, the contact angle of the bearing and the load line of the rolling element do not completely overlap the load line of the radial load, which leads to the generation of an axial component force inside the bearing, affecting the operating performance of the bearing.
To solve this problem, two single-row angular contact ball bearings are usually used in pairs in applications that need to withstand bidirectional axial loads. Through reasonable pairing, it can be ensured that the two bearings bear axial loads from two directions respectively, which not only improves the load-bearing capacity but also avoids unnecessary uneven load distribution. Specifically, two single-row angular contact ball bearings can be combined in different pairing methods, such as back-to-back or face-to-face installation, to optimize the performance and service life of the bearing.
The axial load characteristics of single-row angular contact ball bearings are also affected by the internal and external components of the bearing. The position and installation accuracy of the inner and outer rings of the bearing have a direct impact on the distribution of the axial load. If the relative position of the inner and outer rings is not guaranteed during the installation process, or if the installation is improper, the axial load may be unevenly distributed inside the bearing, resulting in excessive wear or early failure. Correct installation and appropriate adjustment are the key to ensuring that the axial load characteristics of single-row angular contact ball bearings are fully utilized.
